The Experience
The hotel design is based on the universal design constant called the
Golden Mean, or PHI. This mathematical ratio of 1.618 is found in nature,
architecture, human body and throughout Hotel Indigo. Phi was known to
the Greeks as the "dividing a line in the extreme and mean ratio" and to
the Renaissance artists as the "Divine Proportion". It is also called
the Golden Section, Golden Ratio and the Golden Mean, hence the name of
Hotel Indigo's casual, fast cuisine restaurant . . . the Golden Bean.
Phi is also present in The Fibonacci Sequence.
In nature...
The nautilus shell used in the logo and in the shape of the front desk is a great example of perfect proportion, a home.
Sunflowers represent loyalty and are considered the most spectacular example due to the spirals arising from growth.
Pinecones represent regeneration and renewal.
The pineapple is the universal sign of hospitality.
